Early childhood
The infant stage is the golden period of the development of baby’s spine, because four physiological bends of the spine come into being in this stage. In the process of curvature establishing, there is abnormal curvature of spine (curvature reverse or lateral curvature). Therefore, parents should be observant to find out the abnormality as soon as possible.
If baby’s spine get hurts at this stage, it will cause spinal dysplasia, which will not only increase the risks of spinal disease, but also cause problems such as hump and different shoulder height, and affect the baby’s personal image and disposition in the future.
You can check whether the child’s head and neck are slanted or is there any inconsistency between shoulders heights or use the middle finger pulp to check whether it is in a straight line along the posterior edge of the spine. If asymmetry and inconsistency are found, it is likely to be a precursor of idiopathic scoliosis.
